‘Stormtroopers in Stilettos: Queen

‘Stormtroopers in Stilettos: Queen - The Early Years’

I made the effort to go down to London to see ‘Stormtroopers in Stilettos: Queen, The Early Years’ Exhibition:

It was at at Old Truman Brewery on Brick Lane, London, E1. Was free of charge (wow!- makes a change) and open from 11.00AM until 8.00PM daily

Exhibition was off Brick Lane - and I mean 'off' Brick lane -Finding it however was easier said than done!
Searched for ages, the only clue was this restaurant!

Found a great Mural
and another nice bit of street Art

Finally found the Old Brewery: Finding the entrance was a problem..No sign posting whatsoever!
At last! In a derelict looking street I spot Freddie's back entrance, painted purple in his honour! and free entry!!
Smile logo- the predates the Stones lips Logo

Early Freddie artschool Drawing (charcoal)
Apparently none of these drawing have been published anywhere..

Freddie's instinct for fashion is very aparent in this work..

Jimi Hendrix drawn by Freddie Mercury - One musical Genius paying homage to another!

Early poster featuring 'Smile' Brian and Roger's band
Red special- Replica shown before routing and painting, displayed with a fireplace to remind visitors of the source of the wood Brian and his father Harold used to make the original guitar.

Mercury -the winged messenger of the Gods costume!! (an people say Queen were pretentious!)

This has to be a reconstruction as the original would be too stained and worn-out to look like this!
Studio Set-up mock-up/recreation..(Not the original Red special- A Guild 2nd generation replica)

A Day at the Races record launch- note: Brian with a Beard. Also Mary Austin and John Read

Sheer Heart Attack studio out-takes..."God,the agony we went through to have the pictures taken for sheer heart attack!! My dears, can you imagine tryingto convince the others to cover them selves in vaseline and then having a hose of water turned on them?"

Freddie's ballet shoes from the Hyde Park Concert 1976
Freddie - letter to the Queen Fan club magazine

Letter from Groucho Marx to Queen's management conerning usage of Marx Brothers' film titles as Queen album titles.

Easier to see signage when you view from this angle!

"Let's face it, darlings, we're the most
preposterous band that's ever lived."

Freddie Mercury

Nothing to do with Queen, apart from they have played there, I just like the big green union jack!
